AS ALWAYS:
AMAZON SHOPPING Supporting CNS is easy through our partnership with amazon.com. Whenever you shop using our affiliate link, Amazon will contribute 4 to 10% of sales to CNS at no additional cost to you. The more items purchased through these links, the greater the percentage the CNS receives on each sale. Last school year we brought in over $2500 to the school. Let’s see if we can double it in 2015-2016! Step 1 – Shop Amazon’s wide selection by accessing it through this shortcut: http://goo.gl/tvYPCQ or visit: www.cnslex.org/amazon/ and click on the SchoolRewards image. (If you do not see the image, check if your browser has ad blockers enabled and disable it.) Step 2 – Bookmark it! Step 3 – Shop often Step 4 – Share it with your family and friends Nothing comes without fine print. Here are the important details for you to know: ● Order matters: You need to link, shop, and check out, in that order. If you don’t click on our link first, but go to Amazon in your usual way, put things in your cart, and then remember to click on the link and check out – your sale will not earn us funds. You have to click our link before you put anything in your cart. ● The clock matters: If you use the link, put something in your cart within 24 hours, but don’t want to buy it right away, that is fine – the purchase will still earn us funds if you finalize it within 90 days: just remember to link before you checkout. ● One purchase session per link session: Arriving at Amazon through our link is good for 24 hours or until you actually place your order – after that, you need to link again. So if you link, complete a purchase, and then need to make another purchase, you have to link again in order for the purchase to earn us funds. ● You won’t see anything that identifies you as a CNS shopper. Don’t worry – as long as you used the CNS link and follow the order and clock guidelines, your purchase will count. Thank you for your support! Please note that Amazon is not directly supporting CNS. They are simply giving us a referral fee for sending customers their way via our website. If you want us to check on any items to make sure they are ending up on our earnings, we have that ability to see the full earnings report, however it does not link buyers to items, so your privacy is secure.

Are you searching for something to buy or borrow? Do you have something to give or sell? Is there something going on in the Lexington or surrounding community you’d like to share with the CNS community? Here is the place to share it. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Have ideas or submissions for the CNS Newsletter? Diaper Drive!

We are collecting diapers of all sizes (including individual diapers, open bags, and swim diapers) for donation to help local low income families from now until Friday June 9th. Disposable diaper donations will be sent to the Diaper Depot in Waltham. Please contact me directly at gold0182@umn.edu if you have any pre-owned cloth diapers that you would like to donate and I will confirm a pick-up plan with our local rep from Share The Love national cloth diaper bank.

Diaper Need Facts:

● One out of three families struggle to buy diapers.

Diapers can cost up to $100 per month per child and cannot be purchased through government assistance programs such as WIC and food stamps.

● Families with an inadequate supply of clean diapers may attempt to wash and reuse disposable diapers, keep their children in soiled diapers for extended periods, and be denied participation in day care (preventing parents from working).

Thanks for your support!!

Introducing – CNS Marker Recycling!

Exciting news! CNS will now start collecting old magic markers, dry erase markers, and highlighters of all brands from families and teachers/staff as part of the Crayola ColorCycle program! Items collected will be shipped to Crayola (at the company’s expense) and converted into clean-burning transportation fuel and electricity, as well as a wax compound for asphalt. Please look for the collection barrel currently on display on Robbie’s desk (I’ll let you know when it finds a new more permanent home location at CNS).

Also, here’s a cost-saving eco tip – dried up markers can often be revitalized or turned into water color paint at home (prior to recycling)! See these links for instructions:

Terracycle Reminders/Updates!

Thanks for continuing to bring in Terracycle donations! Some important reminders:

1.    Keep it clean. The outside of all items must be reasonably clean. Please shake crumbs out of any bags/wrappers. Pouches and personal care items should have extra food/air/product squeezed out and have caps on. Your help is greatly appreciated to avoid attracting bugs and mice, and to make my job sorting/packaging items faster and less messy.

2.   Items NOT to bring in. Due to limited storage space at CNS, please use your home curb-side recycling pick up for any items that are accepted by your town (for example, Lexington will accept any plastic #1-#7 including bottle pumps/triggers). Please do NOT bring in snack bags or juice pouches (ex Honest kids, Capri Sun) at this time as we are still on the waitlist for these programs (please consider collecting these at home and I’ll send out an update if/when we are able to start collecting them at CNS).

Here is a reminder of the items that we ARE currently able to accept:

1.     Single-serving food pouches (ex apple sauce, baby/toddler food)

2.     Foil-lined wrappers for granola, energy, meal replacement, and protein bars

3.     Toiletries (toothpaste tubes, toothbrushes, lipstick/balm tubes, and containers for floss/deodorant/hair/skin/cosmetic products)

4.     Plastic liners from inside cereal boxes and plastic cereal bags

5.     Brita filters/packaging

Thank you so much for your help and contributions!!!

HIKE

Social Committee Update

Hike at Great Brook State Farm in Carlisle – Sunday, June 4 at 10AM

Join us this Sunday for the CNS family hike at Great Brook State Farm. We will meet at the picnic tables at 10am before hiking the one mile Litchfield Loop. The hike takes about 30 minutes and is accessible with a jogging stroller.
After the hike enjoy a snack on the lawn beside the pond, watch the tadpoles and toads, get an ice cream or visit the farm animals.

Please let Rebecca know by Saturday evening if you are planning to attend so we don’t head off without anybody (rebamg18@gmail.com).  For any last minute changes you can reach Rebecca at 617-784-6188.

This is the hike we did last year. It’s the perfect hike, visually and physically, for the preschool age group. The loop begins with some small hills through the woods. Jogging strollers would get through without a problem, but there is also a grassy flat trail that runs parallel. The trail then runs beside a field, passing the barn, silos and animals a short distance away.

Please remember your bug spray, sun block, blankets, snack and balls/frisbees for the lawn.

Directions
*From Rt. 128:* Take exit 31B. Follow Route 225 West for 8 miles to the

Carlisle center rotary, then turn right on Lowell St. (following the sign
to Chelmsford.) Fern’s Market is on the corner. The Park entrance is 1.8
miles ahead on the right. Make right hand turn onto North Road. Parking
area is 1/4 mile down on left.

There is a $2 fee/car.
